Where is CAMP/pixel?

Can I visit a camp location before I register?
Yes! Head over to our Visit page to view options for visiting a Pixel Academy location.
Is CAMP/pixel near any public transportation?
Yes! Each of our locations is located near subways and buses for the convenience of our camp communuity. You can view more information on our Location page.
How do I sign my child up for CAMP/pixel?

How much does Extended Care cost?

Do you offer scholarships or financial aid?
We know that summer camp isn't cheap, so we offer several ways to save on CAMP/pixel. These include early-bird, multi-week and sibling discounts, and financing options. Visit our Cost page for more details.
Why are some camp topics more expensive than others?
We price our offerings to accurately reflect the cost of the hardware, software, licenses, materials, and additional resources required to support each camp. Visit our Cost page for more information and ways to save!
I'm having trouble viewing the mobile version of your registration site. What's wrong?
We recommend you use Chrome, Safari or Firefox with a resolution wider than 1200px (most laptop or desktop computers) while browsing our camp website. Some webpages may not be optimized for mobile or tablet display.
How do I know if a camp is sold out?
On our Tickets page, sold-out camps are colorless and unclickable in the schedule. Reserve now to guarantee your spot!
I'm sold out of a camp! Is there a waiting list?
You can sign up for Availability Notifications on a sold-out camp via link directly below your desired camp on the Tickets page. We do recommend signing up for a different option within your week of choice to guarantee your spot at CAMP/pixel, but we'll notify the camp's active Availability Notifications list when a spot becomes available.
What is your refund policy?
Please visit hq.pixelacademy.org/refunds to view our full policy on refunding or modifying a CAMP/pixel reservation.
I want to put my child in a different age group than is advertised. Is that allowed?
We've designed our CAMP/pixel curriculum and activities to reflect ability relative to our 3 age groups: 7-9, 9-11, and 11-13. It's also very much a social experience of working and playing with like-minded individuals. We recommend the age groups we advertise for the optimal camp experience, but you're invited to register your child for whichever age group you think will make for the most rewarding experience, in keeping with our Terms and Conditions.

THE CAMP DAY
What are CAMP/pixel's hours?
CAMP/pixel runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday during the summer. Flexible check-in is at 8:30-9:00 a.m. and flexible check-out is from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Parents wishing to pick up later can add on Extended Care, which runs until 5:30 p.m. Learn more on our Schedule page.
Can I see a sample schedule of a CAMP/pixel day?
Do campers just sit around and stare at the computer all day by themselves?
Absolutely not! In addition to on-screen learning, the camp day is packed with screen breaks, food breaks, physical activities, and more. Please visit our Schedule page to learn more.
Do you offer late pick-up?
Pick-up is at 2:30-3:00 p.m. You're welcome to add on Extended Care to your reservation, which gives you until 5:30 p.m. to pick up your camper. Learn more on our Schedule page.
Can we drop off early?
We invite you to drop off as early as 8:30 a.m. for flexible check-in. Drop-off before 8:30 is not allowed. Learn more on our Schedule page.
Can I stay with my child at CAMP/pixel?
We ask camper parents to leave once the check-in process is complete. We have every parent's contact information on hand and we don't hesitate to call; please do the same at (866) 771-6837 if you have any concerns!
How do I know my child is not just playing video games all day?
At CAMP/pixel, "free time" is earned and not abused. Campers may be found testing a game or mod they design or taking a few minutes for a well-earned fun break, but they know from day 1 that it's not what CAMP/pixel is all about. Learn more on our Schedule page.
WHAT TO BRING
What should my child bring to CAMP/pixel?
We have snacks and water here, but you're welcome to pack both if you prefer! If you don't sign up for our daily lunches, please pack a lunch along with your camper. We use our technology for learning, so no need to bring laptops or tablets. Most importantly, make sure your camper comes with a positive attitude and readiness to learn!
Should I pack a lunch for my camper?
Campers can be signed up for our lunch add-on or may bring their own. OUR FACILITIES ARE NOT ALLERGEN-FREE; we do not put restrictions on what campers bring for lunches and snacks. If your camper has serious allergies, please feel free to contact us to speak about whether CAMP/pixel is right for your child.
Should I pack a snack for my camper?
A morning and afternoon snack are included in your reservation! You're welcome to pack snacks of your own if you prefer.
Do I need to bring any technology?
No! All of our camps are taught using our technology. That said, if your camper would like to bring his or her own device in the event there's appropriate time to take it out during a camp day, he or she is welcome to do so.
Do I need a doctor-signed medical form to send my child to CAMP/pixel?
You do not! When you're signed up for camp and can access your Pixel Academy account, we'll ask you to please fill out your camper's Profile, which includes a box for Medical Information. We monitor and refer to this very closely and are happy to speak with any parents with medical or related concerns.
Should my camper bring a flash drive?
Every registered camper gets a free flash drive each summer! Campers take the drive home with their finished projects at the end of each week.
What do you do when it rains?
Water and technology: Not a great mix. Make sure your camper is dry at drop-off on rainy days (raincoats, boots)! We tend to avoid going outside on days with inclement weather.
Is CAMP/pixel associated with Pixel Academy?
Can adults participate?
Nope :( But take a look at our job opportunities if you're interested in joining the CAMP/pixel team!
Are you special needs friendly?
Our Instructors have experience and training with a variety of special needs and learning styles. CAMP/pixel creates an amazing environment for kids and teens who can think and act for themselves. In order to encourage creativity and facilitate a laid-back learning-environment, we try to keep our space an adult-free area (except for our Instructors); we unfortunately cannot currently accommodate anyone that requires an aide in school. If you have any special questions or concerns, please give us a call.

Please let us know as soon as you can so we can make every effort to adjust and prepare accordingly. We're happy to be flexible and do our best to find a solution to any scenario we can!
